Before the finalisation of the ROMDIEM Documentary, community screenings and feedback workshops were organised across the partner countries, bringing together more than 70 participants from Roma communities, educational institutions, civil society organisations, local authorities, and the wider public.
These events provided a unique opportunity for participants to preview selected documentary excerpts, share their reflections, and contribute directly to the improvement of the final production. Beyond gathering valuable feedback, the workshops created safe spaces for dialogue on the importance of preserving Roma Holocaust memory and ensuring that these stories continue to be heard by future generations.
The community screenings reinforced the participatory nature of the ROMDIEM project, placing communities and stakeholders at the heart of the documentary-making process. Their contributions helped shape the narrative, strengthen the historical accuracy of the documentary, and ensure that the voices represented within it remain authentic, respectful, and impactful.
Through these activities, ROMDIEM demonstrated that remembrance is not only about documenting the past but also about engaging communities in the collective responsibility of preserving memory for the future.
