Resistance Day

🕯️ Today we honour Romani Resistance Day — remembering the 6,000+ Roma and Sinti who bravely resisted the Nazi SS at Auschwitz on May 16, 1944.

Faced with imminent extermination, they fought back with courage and unity. Though the so-called “Gypsy camp” at Auschwitz-Birkenau was later destroyed, their act of resistance remains a powerful symbol of dignity in the face of genocide.

At Romdiem Project, we are committed to preserving this history — and ensuring it’s never forgotten.

Through survivor testimonies, education, and youth empowerment, we’re amplifying Roma voices and building a future rooted in justice, truth, and remembrance.

🗣️ Resistance is not only in the past — it continues in every act of visibility, solidarity, and storytelling.
