PETAR IGOV

The interview with Petar Igov took place in his office in Kyustendil, a town in Southwestern Bulgaria. Petar igov is an educator, community leader, and one of the few Roma in Bulgaria to earn a doctoral degree -awarded by the National Military University “Vasil Levski” in Veliko Tarnovo. He currently serves as a pedagogical counselor at VI Primary School “Paisil Hilendarski” and is the chairman of the local cultural center “Vasil Levski.” Deeply committed to empowering Rom: youth and preserving cultural identity, Igov plays a vital role in both education and community engagement in the Roma neighborhood of Kyustendil. His contribution to the ROMDIEM project provided an essential perspective on the historical and contemporary challenges faced by Roma communities in Bulgaria.
