OLIVER MAKO

Olivér Makó is a Roma documentary filmmaker from Slovakia and an alumnus of the CU – Roma Graduate Preparation Program. His work explores Roma history, memory, and identity, with a strong focus on Holocaust remembrance through storytelling. Through film, he foregrounds Roma voices and lived experiences, using visual narratives as tools for empowerment and resistance. His practice actively engages contemporary Roma peers, creating spaces for dialogue, reflection, and collective memory-building. Grounded in the belief that storytelling is an act of resistance, his work challenges invisibility and affirms Roma resilience and dignity.
