The ROMDIEM Project has now entered its most human and emotionally powerful phase: the field research and testimony collection.
From now through September 2025, our teams across Europe are conducting interviews, conversations, and oral history sessions with Roma individuals, survivors’ families, activists, researchers, and community members. The goal is to map personal memories, uncover forgotten stories, and gather perspectives on how the Roma Holocaust (Samudaripen) is remembered—or too often, forgotten.
🧭 What We Aim to Discover
Through this field research, ROMDIEM is:
- Documenting firsthand accounts and generational memories of the Roma Holocaust;
- Collecting opinions and experiences from various regions and communities;
- Exploring the gaps in public knowledge and the challenges of preserving this vital history;
- Highlighting stories that have never been recorded or shared before.
These testimonies will become a central part of the ROMDIEM archive, enriching our future documentary, book, and educational resources with real voices and lived truth.
🕯️ Why It Matters
Too many Roma stories remain untold. Through this research, we honor those who lived through the darkest chapters of European history and give voice to those silenced by time and neglect. Every testimony is a step toward truth, dignity, and remembrance.
If you or someone you know has a story to share—or would like to participate in the project—please reach out to our local partners. Your voice matters.
