⚠️ Important information

Why This Symposium Matters

The Roma Holocaust remains a largely marginalized and silenced history, despite the immense suffering and loss experienced by Roma communities during World War II. Remembering this past is not only an act of historical justice—it is a moral and democratic responsibility.

The ROMDIEM Symposium aims to:

  • Give visibility to Roma voices and lived experiences
  • Highlight historical research and contemporary perspectives
  • Address how remembrance can combat racism, antigypsyism, and discrimination today
  • Strengthen European cooperation on education, memory, and human rights

A Truly European Gathering

The symposium is organized by the Greek partner CUBE NGO, in close cooperation with all consortium partners of the ROMDIEM project. It has a strong international character, bringing together organizations from Greece, Bulgaria, Belgium, Slovakia, Serbia, and Italy, as well as experts and scholars from more than 10 European countries.

This diverse participation transforms the symposium into a European space for exchange, where academic knowledge, community memory, and personal testimonies meet.

What to Expect

Participants will engage in a dynamic and interactive program featuring:

  • Panel discussions with experts, researchers, and practitioners
