Five Days of Memory, Dialogue and Action: ROMDIEM Campaign in Serbia
Serbia | 24–28 August 2026
From 24 to 28 August 2026, Romnji Srbija will organise five consecutive days of activities as part of the ROMDIEM Campaign, creating a dedicated space for Roma and non-Roma participants to explore historical memory, discrimination, human rights and civic responsibility.
Approximately four hours of activities will be delivered each day, creating an intensive programme of around 20 hours of direct community engagement.
The campaign will open with a ROMDIEM documentary screening and community dialogue, using audiovisual testimony and storytelling as a starting point for discussion about the Roma Holocaust and the importance of preserving Roma voices and family memories.
The following activities will progressively deepen this conversation. A community roundtable will explore memory, discrimination and civic responsibility, while a dedicated youth workshop will invite younger participants to examine stereotypes, human rights and inclusion through interactive educational activities.
Another campaign day will centre on a panel discussion about Roma voices, testimonies and remembrance, emphasising the importance of allowing communities to participate actively in how their histories are documented and communicated.
The programme will conclude with a reflection and recommendations workshop, providing participants with an opportunity to discuss what they have learned, exchange perspectives and formulate ideas concerning the future educational and community use of ROMDIEM results.
