SEVLA SEJDIĆ

Sevla Sejdic is a Romani entrepreneur from Bosnia who arrived in Italy around 30 years ago. After living for over a decade in a Roma camp, she decided to transform her life through creativity and resilience. Sevla co-founded the non-profit “Occhio del Riciclone”, producing fashion and design items from recycled materials. Together with her husband and nine children, she launched a successful sustainable business. Overcoming strong prejudice and poverty, she created jobs for her family and other Romani women. Her designs are now sold at the Città dell’Altra Economia in Rome. Sevla also conducts workshops in schools to promote recycling and cultural integration. She believes work is the true path to dignity and inclusion. Today, she is a respected seamstress and entrepreneur, proud of having changed her family’s future. Her story proves that change is possible — with courage and determination.
